GENERAL INFORMATION

Background and Scope

SAFEPROCESS, the IFAC Symposium on Fault Detection, Supervision and Safety for Technical Processes, is a premier international forum bringing together leading experts in fault detection and diagnosis, process health management, safety, and security. In an era where automatic control, mathematics, statistics, and computer science increasingly converge, and where artificial intelligence is reshaping the field, SAFEPROCESS 2027 is conceived to reinforce collaboration across these disciplines and to strengthen ties between academia and industry. Recognizing the importance of this research area, the IFAC established the SAFEPROCESS triennial symposium series. The 2027 edition will place a special emphasis on the timely and impactful theme “AI for Safety”. The symposium invites contributions presenting solid research results, innovative methodologies, forward-looking ideas, and challenging applications. The main topics for SAFEPROCESS 2027 include (but are not limited to)

  • AI-enhanced methods in the SAFEPROCESS scope
  • Data-driven diagnosis methods
  • Model-based fault diagnosis
  • Health aware control
  • Predictive and preventive maintenance
  • Safety and security by design
  • Cybersecurity for cyberphysical systems
  • Fault-tolerant and resilient control
  • Condition and health monitoring
  • Prognostics
  • Anomaly detection
  • Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety
  • Sector applications of the topics above
