Public transport<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rotterdam and Amsterdam are served by international high-speed train connections to Brussels, Paris, and several German cities. From Rotterdam or Amsterdam, you can take a regular train to Delft. Use www.ns.nl<\/strong><\/a> to plan your train journey within the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage everyone to use public transport to Delft. From Delft\u2019s main station, Delft Centraal<\/strong>, you can take a taxi, rent an OV-fiets<\/strong>, or take a bus to the Aula Congress Centre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several buses connect Delft Centraal with the TU Delft campus and the TU Aula<\/strong> stop. Since routes, stops, and departure times may change due to construction work or public transport diversions, please check www.9292.nl<\/strong><\/a> shortly before departure for the exact route and schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explore Delft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delft is famous for its rich history, its connection with the Dutch Royal Family, the painter Johannes Vermeer<\/strong>, and the world-famous Delft Blue<\/strong> ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Delft is a relatively small city, it has played an important role in Dutch history. The city developed around the 10th century and became an important centre of trade after the canal connection to the River Meuse was created. Later, Delft became internationally known for its blue-and-white ceramics, inspired by porcelain from Asia but developed into a unique Dutch tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delft is also strongly connected to William of Orange<\/strong>, one of the key figures in the history of the Netherlands. He lived in Delft and was assassinated there in 1584. Oude Kerk Delft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Oude Kerk<\/strong>, or Old Church, is one of Delft\u2019s oldest buildings. It is well known for its leaning tower, often called\u00a0Scheve Jan<\/strong>. Inside the church, visitors can find the tomb of the famous Delft painter\u00a0Johannes Vermeer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal Delft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Royal Delft<\/strong> is the last remaining original Delft Blue pottery factory from the 17th century. Since 1653, it has produced the famous blue-and-white ceramics for which Delft is known worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors can learn about the history of Delft Blue, see painting demonstrations, explore the museum, and discover how the ceramics are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
