AIRPORT TRANSFER – CAR RENTAL<\/strong>
Keflav\u00edk is the main international airport, and the arrival point for most international flights to Iceland.
The distance from Keflav\u00edk International Airport to Reykjav\u00edk is 55 km, or 45 minutes drive. There are shuttle services between hotels in Reykjav\u00edk and Keflav\u00edk airport in connection with arrivals and departures. Taxi service is also available.

Reykjavik offers a wide range of accommodation, from 5* hotel (300 Euros\/night) to basic accommodation (50 Euros\/night). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

REYKJAVIK: TOURS, MUSEUMS AND EVENTS<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Roughly two-thirds of Iceland\u2019s population of 370,000 people, live in Reykjav\u00edk and the urban sprawl known as the Capital Region. The concentration allows Reykjav\u00edk – or Iceland, for that matter – to punch above its weight when it comes to cultural offerings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For upcoming events, follow Reykjav\u00edk Grapevine<\/a><\/strong>, Visit Reykjav\u00edk<\/a><\/strong> and Tix.is<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Museum of Iceland <\/strong>houses both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Second in line as a must-visit is the National Gallery of Iceland<\/strong>, showcasing a 20th century collection of paintings. Reykjav\u00edk Art Museum at Hafnarh\u00fas has the win in modern art. Independent galleries include BERG Contemporary<\/strong>, \u00ed8 Gallery<\/strong>, Harbinger<\/strong>, Wind <\/strong>and Weather Window Gallery.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Reykjav\u00edk City Card<\/strong><\/a>\u2013 available for 72 hours at 8000 Krona (around 55 Euros) – allows entry to most major museums, unlimited rides with Str\u00e6t\u00f3 public buses and admission to sundlaug <\/em>public pools throughout Reykjav\u00edk. It\u2019s a bargain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting from one end to another<\/a><\/strong> is only 3km at most. Guided Walking Tours<\/a><\/strong> – departing year-round – are a fun and popular way to explore.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

VATNAJ\u00d6KULL NATIONAL PARK<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Vatnaj\u00f6kull National Park<\/strong><\/a>, established in 2008, encompasses all of Europes largest glacier Vatnaj\u00f6kull and extensive surrounding areas. These include the national parks previously existing at Skaftafell in the southwest and J\u00f6kuls\u00e1rglj\u00fafur in the north. Today’s park covers 13% of Iceland and ranks among the largest national parks in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite a large part of the national park being underneath the icecap of the glacier Vatnaj\u00f6kull, its landscapes are diverse, predominantly due to the interplay of volcanic activity and glaciers<\/strong><\/a>. Few other places in the world exhibit the effects of such a wide range of natural phenomena as Vatnaj\u00f6kull, created by the combined forces of rivers, glacial ice, and volcanic and geothermal activity.<\/p>\n<\/div>

GEYSIR GEOTHERMAL AREA<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Geysir is situated in the Haukadalur Valley in southwestern Iceland, approximately 110 kilometers east of Reykjavik. Geysir is part of the Golden Circle route<\/strong><\/a>. See on a map<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Geysir Geothermal Area<\/a> stands as one of the island’s most iconic tourist attractions. Despite the diminished activity of the Great Geysir, which historically erupted every few hours until ceasing in 1916, the field remains a geothermal spectacle.  The lively Strokkur geyser, spectacularly erupts every few minutes sending jets of boiling water up to 30 meters high, this area embodies the powerful forces beneath the Earth’s crust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Geysir Geothermal Area truly lives up to its reputation. Spouting geysers are a rare phenomenon, mainly found in Geystir Iceland, Yellowstone USA, New Zealand, Japan and on Kamtchaca. And witnessing one erupt so regularly and intimately as is possible here, is an extraordinary experience. Visitors to this steaming terrain are treated to more than visual wonders; they feel the earth tremble and hear the eruptions’ roar, making their visit both awe-inspiring and immersive. Those who don’t pay attention to the wind direction might also get an up-close introduction to the water as the spray falls back to earth!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
