Call for Session Organizers
Contribute to the Symposium: Organize a session in one of three formats—Invited Session (organizer invites authors), Open Invited Track (organizer proposes a thematic track), or Tutorial (workshop-style session)
How to Submit an Invited Session Proposal (click for more details)
The International Program Committee encourages proposals for invited sessions comprising six invited papers on a well-defined topic of current interest. Each invited session should offer a cohesive and comprehensive exploration of a subject that aligns with the scope of the symposium.
Organizers of invited sessions should perform the following steps:
- Contact potential authors to obtain a list of authors, paper titles and abstracts
- Write a four page session proposal. This should describe the theme and content, demonstrate its coherence, and argue its significance and relevance. The proposed session should profile 6 specified papers. At a minimum, the proposal should contain the following information:
- The title of the session
- The name and full contact details of the session organizer
- A description of the session theme and an argument supporting its significance
- A list of the proposed session contributions, including titles, authors, and corresponding author of each paper
- The abstract of each paper
- Generate a PDF
- Submit your proposal through the IFAC Submission Management System. As part of this process, you will be provided with an invited session code.
- Pass the invited session code to the corresponding author of each paper in the session. Authors will need to specify this number when submitting their papers.
Submission period: June 1 – October 1, 2026
How to Submit an Open Invited Tracks Proposal (click for more details)
Open invited track sessions have no limit on the number of papers, and the organizers are responsible for attracting contributors. Proposals for open invited track sessions will be advertised on the SYSID2027 website, and submissions are open to all authors.
The proposals should be concise with the limit of 6 pages in PDF format. There is no specific template but the proposal is expected to include the following items:
- Title of the open invited track session
- Abstract
- Detailed description of the topic
- Information of the organizers
- Link to a web page to further describe the track (optional but recommended)
SYSID2027 will advertise all approved Open Invited Tracks on its website. Organizers are encouraged to submit their proposals as early as possible before the deadline. Upon submission, the IPC Chairs will assess the proposal to ensure its relevance to the scope of SYSID2027 and verify that the proposed topic is neither too broad nor already covered by previously submitted tracks. Once a track is approved, the organizers will receive a unique track code, which will also be displayed on the conference website. Authors must include this code when submitting their papers to the corresponding track.
Submission period: June 1 – October 1, 2026
Submission of Open Invited Tracks proposals should be made using the IFAC Submission Management System.
How to Submit a Tutorial Proposal (click for more details)
We are soliciting proposals for tutorials to be held during SYSID2027. A tutorial session will be given 2 hours like other technical sessions.
Organizers are invited to prepare and submit proposals with a clear focus on new and emerging topics within the general scope of system identification. The purpose of the tutorial sessions is to deliver a comprehensive knowledge in a specific topic to symposium attendees. The characteristics of the tutorial sessions could be broad from applications of system identification to in-depth theory. The presentations will be delivered by experts in academia, laboratories, and industry.
The tutorial proposals should be concise with the limit of 6 pages in PDF format. There is no specific template but the proposal is expected to include the following items:
- Title of the tutorial
- Organizers: Please provide the name, affiliation, address, email address for each organizer, and indicate which organizer is the main contact.
- Outline of the tutorial: topics, objectives and description
- Description of the intended audience and the expected outcomes
- Desired prerequisite knowledge of the audience
- Brief biographies of the confirmed speakers
Additional points:
- The tutorial proposals should include a statement addressing why the proposed tutorial is important and timely, how it is relevant to SYSID2027 and, why the speakers are qualified for a high-quality introduction of the topic.
- If a related tutorial was given before, describe when and where it was given and how it will be updated for SYSID2027. If possible, provide a link to slides of the previous presentation.
- The speakers of the tutorial are encouraged to submit regular papers (4~6 pages) summarizing their tutorial presentations.
- If there are any concerns about the tutorial session papers, please contact sysid2027@services.cnrs.fr
Anyone who registered for the conference can attend the tutorial sessions; so there is no profit-sharing with organizers.
Submission period: June 1 – October 1, 2026
Submission of tutorial proposals should be made using the IFAC Submission Management System.
Submission
Joint conference/journal submission papers – Publish your paper in the IFAC Journal of Systems and Control and present it at the conference (click for more details)
Authors are invited to take advantage of a special opportunity to have their paper considered for publication in IFAC Journal of Systems and Control in parallel with the Symposium presentation. Papers submitted for this “Journal Option” will benefit from an expedited review and, if accepted, will be published promptly in the journal.
To participate, the manuscript should present journal-quality research contribution. Only regular papers are eligible for the journal option.
Submission period: June 1 – October 1, 2026
Procedures:
- Manuscripts should be prepared using the IFAC Symposia format, which is available at https://www.ifac-control.org/conferences/authors-guide (same instructions as for regular papers).
- Authors should submit their manuscript to SYSID2027 first at IFAC Submission Management System: ifac.papercept.net.
- Choose “Regular paper with journal option”.
- After completing the SYSID2027 submission, authors should also submit the same manuscript to the journal.
- After the SYSID2027 submission, note down the submission number assigned by the SYSID2027 IFAC Submission Management System.
- Go to IFAC Journal of Systems and Control website, click “Submit your article”, and select “Special issue for ???”.
- Submit the same manuscript (up to 8 pages long in the IFAC Symposia format) to the journal. Be sure to include the SYSID2027 submission number in the cover letter.
- The first round of the review is performed by the journal side.
- If the manuscript is accepted by the journal before mid-January 2027, the manuscript will be automatically accepted for SYSID2027.
- The manuscript that is either still undecided or rejected by the journal as of mid-January 2027 will be re-evaluated by SYSID2027, based on the first round review report from the journal.
- Please note that for manuscripts that do not receive a decision from the journal until mid-January, the review processes for SYSID2027 and the journal will become independent from that point on. This is intended to meet both the SYSID2027 timeline and ensure the quality of accepted papers: the SYSID2027 decision will be announced on 15 February 2027, whereas the journal’s final decision may take longer due to revisions or additional round of reviews. As a result, it is possible that a manuscript rejected by SYSID2027 may still be accepted by the journal at a later date as a revised version. The journal’s final decision will be made no later than the end of SYSID2027.
- All authors will receive acceptance/rejection decision from the Symposium and the journal, respectively.
- If a manuscript is accepted for both the Symposium and the journal, it will be included in the Symposium Preprint, but excluded from the Symposium Proceedings (IFAC PapersOnLine: POL) released a few months after the Symposium. The authors whose manuscript is accepted by the journal must also prepare their final version for the Symposium, which is up to 6 pages. It should be noted that journal publication is contingent upon the authors’ presentation at the Symposium. The following table summarizes the publication policy:
| For Congress | For Journal | Preprint | POL | Journal |
| Accepted | Accepted | o | x | o |
| Accepted | Rejected | o | o | x |
| Rejected | Accepted | x | x | o |
For further information or questions, please contact sysid2027@services.cnrs.fr
Regular session papers – Regular contributions to be included in the IFAC-PapersOnLine proceedings (click for more details)
Regular contributions will be selected on the originality, technical soundness, quality of written exposition and relevance to SYSID2027 topics. These papers must present unpublished work and must not be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Initial submissions are at least 4 pages long and most 8 pages long, with a strict 6 pages limit for final manuscripts to be included in the IFAC-PapersOnLine proceedings. Presentations are in oral sessions during the conference in a 20 minutes format, including questions.
Submission period: June 1 – November 2, 2026
Invited session papers – Papers solicited by an organizer on a well-defined subject (click for more details)
Invited papers are solicited by the organizer of an invited session. To complete the submission, authors must provide the invited session code supplied by the session organizer. Invited papers must present original, unpublished work that falls within the scope of the symposium and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors of invited papers must also submit their papers.
Submission period: June 1 – November 2, 2026
Open Invited Tracks papers – Papers submitted on a specific subject proposed by track organizers (click for more details)
Open Invited Tracks focus on specific research topics and are proposed by track organizers. The approved proposals are listed below, and any author may submit contributions to these tracks, provided that the content aligns with the track’s topic. There is no limit on the number of contributions that may be submitted to a given track. Open Invited Track papers are reviewed according to the same criteria as Regular contributions and will be published in the IFAC-PapersOnLine proceedings with a 6 pages limit.
SYSID2027 will advertise the approved open invited tracks. Once a track is approved, a code will be displayed on the SYSID2017 website. Contributors must enter this code when submitting their papers to the corresponding track.
Submission period: June 1 – November 2, 2026
Late-breaking & Discussion papers – Have an interesting result or an exciting new idea? Take advantage of the extended deadline to share it (papers not included in IFAC-PapersOnLine) (click for more details)
Looking for an alternative way to contribute to the conference?
You can submit a short manuscript (1–4 pages) for review by the International Program Committee. Unlike regular submissions, if accepted, your paper will not appear in the IFAC-PapersOnLine proceedings; instead, it will be included in the Symposium preprints only.
This submission category is an attractive option if:
- You missed the regular paper deadline, but have interesting results you would like to share.
- You are developing an exciting new idea and want to reserve the complete results for a future journal article. The late-breaking/discussion category allows you to showcase and refine your ideas with the peers, while keeping the door open for a later publication.
- You cannot publish full details due to non-disclosure agreements, but would like to exchange ideas and discuss your work.
Submission period: June 1 – January 15, 2027
For further information or questions, please contact sysid2027@services.cnrs.fr
