Amsterdam RAI is the Netherlands largest convention centre. Eleven multi-functional halls are available for exhibitions, congresses, meetings and other events. The congress centre comprises two auditoria and 64 congress and conference rooms. In addition, the state-of-the-art ballroom offers event space up to 1,985 sqm (21,366 sq ft). The RAI complex has been designed to be as flexible as possible in order to accommodate all types of events, whether they occupy the entire complex or only use a part of it. Flexibility is a key word, especially in today’s market, and there is a growing need for locations where conference possibilities can be combined with exhibitions and/or meeting rooms, e.g., for break-out-sessions or product presentations. Some 477 events were organised in the RAI complex in 2013, attracting around 1.4 million visitors. In October 2013, Amsterdam RAI started with the construction on a new, flexible and sustainable conference and office building on the northern side of Amsterdam RAI. The building will be opened on May 1st 2015.
Accessibility
Traveling to Amsterdam is easy. Many travelers fly into the award-winning Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Airport, while arriving by train is also a great option.
Traveling within the city is also easy as Amsterdam boasts an impressive public transport network to help you get around. But of course there is no better way to explore the city then like the locals do: on a bike.
Hotels
To make your stay in Amsterdam as convenient as possible, a dedicated online hotel booking tool will be available for IFAC 2029 participants.
The booking tool will offer a wide selection of hotels in different price categories and at varying distances from RAI Amsterdam. This includes 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-star hotels, as well as hostels and apartments, allowing participants to choose the accommodation that best suits their preferences and budget.
A significant number of hotel rooms are located close to RAI Amsterdam, while additional options are available throughout Amsterdam and the wider metropolitan area. All selected congress hotels will be carefully chosen for their quality, service and convenient location.
Hotel rates will be negotiated specifically for IFAC 2029 and made available through the online booking system. Participants will be able to compare the available options and make their reservation directly through the tool.
Of course, participants are also welcome to arrange their own accommodation. Amsterdam offers a wide range of options, including hotels, apartments, hostels and bed & breakfasts.

Museums
Amsterdam is home to some of the world’s most renowned museums, offering visitors a fascinating journey through Dutch art, history and culture. At the Rijksmuseum, the largest museum in the Netherlands, you can admire masterpieces by Rembrandt, including The Night Watch, as well as works by Vermeer and Frans Hals, alongside Delftware, sculpture, Asian art and historic prints. The Anne Frank House offers a deeply moving experience at the place where Anne Frank and her family hid during the Second World War and where she wrote her famous diary. Visa and Other Travel Information
All congress delegates traveling to the Netherlands must present a passport (or approved identity card for EU citizens) and many countries require a visa to enter the country. Delegates are encouraged to apply for visas early (at least two months before departure), and to ensure all requested documentation is submitted with the application for Schengen Visa (Visa C). Applications must be submitted in person at the representation of the Netherlands in the respective countries or at a Schengen partner representation, if the Netherlands does not have representation in that country. Delegates are urged to contact their nearest Netherlands’ embassy or consulate as early as possible to determine where your application should be made and how long this process will take.

Search for the Netherlands’ Embassy or Consulate in your country and contact them. You need to apply for Travel Visa C (Tourist Visa).
Travel Visa (Visa C) = If you intend to go to the Netherlands as a tourist, to visit friends or on a business trip for a period not exceeding 90 days and your country does not participate in the Visa Waiver Program, you need a Schengen travel visa (Visa C). This visa is not a work permit.
