On behalf of the Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies (LABUST) at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and Centre of Excellence MARBLE, together with the IFAC Technical Committee 7.2 on Marine Systems, we warmly invite you to the 17th IFAC Conference on Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics and Vehicles (IFAC CAMS 2027) in Šibenik, Croatia.

IFAC CAMS is a premier international forum bringing together researchers, academic experts, industry professionals, and engineers working across the broad fields of marine control systems, maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS), unmanned underwater vehicles (AUVs/ROVs), and marine robotics.

Set along the breathtaking Adriatic coast in Šibenik, IFAC CAMS 2027 offers an ideal environment for exchanging breakthrough ideas, sharing cutting-edge research, and establishing collaborative networks bridging academic research and industry applications.


Technical Scope & Topics of Interest

IFAC CAMS (IFAC TC 7.2) addresses the control, navigation, guidance, and operational safety of surface ships, underwater vehicles, offshore platforms, and marine systems. The conference provides an international platform for presenting state-of-the-art research and field deployments. Researchers are invited to submit contributions within the theoretical, algorithmic, experimental, and applied dimensions of marine automation, including (but not limited to):

  1. Navigation, Guidance & Dynamic Positioning
    • Motion control, dynamic positioning (DP), and position mooring systems
    • Path planning, trajectory tracking, and COLREGs-compliant collision avoidance
    • Sensor fusion, acoustic positioning, multi-sensor navigation, and SLAM in marine environments
  2. Autonomous Vehicles & Marine Robotics
    • Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) and Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS)
    • Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), and underwater gliders
    • Biomimetic marine robots, soft robotics, and adaptive underwater manipulators
    • Swarm robotics, cooperative control, and fleet management for heterogeneous marine vehicles
  3. Marine Propulsion, Power & Decarbonization
    • Energy management systems, hybrid/electric propulsion, and fuel cell integration
    • Hydrodynamic modeling, trim/ballast optimization, and energy-efficient route planning
    • Emission reduction and green control technologies for sustainable maritime transport
  4. Offshore Engineering & Underwater Systems
    • Control of floating wind turbines, wave energy converters, and ocean thermal energy platforms
    • Station-keeping, riser dynamics, and tethered system control
    • Subsea manipulation, pipeline inspection, and ocean floor mapping systems
  5. Safety, Security & Digitalization
    • Digital Twins, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and simulation platforms
    • Fault detection, isolation, dynamic risk assessment, and health management (PHM)
    • Maritime cybersecurity, resilient control systems, and communication under lossy conditions
